Mule Trekking

Jimena is ideally placed for mule trekking as it is on the very edge of the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales which is criss-crossed with ancient mule tracks. The terrain offers everything from riding in the valley of the river Hozgarganta to riding in the cork and pine forests of the mountains. Mule trekking trips can often be arranged with experienced local muleteers who normally use their mules as working animals; for example, carrying cork down from the mountains. One of our muleteer contacts, Juan, also makes the beautiful traditional mules clothes which is the term the Andalucians sometimes use to refer to the saddle, bridle etc.
